Simply superb
This book is unlike any other book. It's a classic and will be around for ages. It was first published over seventy years ago, but it will always be relevant as long as people are alive. This book contains tips on how to conduct ourselves and influence people. It is not so much about how to make people do things that we want them to do, but how to make them want to do it themselves.
I found it easy to read, but because it is packed with ideas, I keep it on my shelf because I tend to forget certain things. But, practice makes perfect. I just loved this book and I think that more people should read it. I never heard anyone say that this book is not valuable.

I found reading this book a very enjoyable and delightful experience. Actually it is physically a little book but it is full of wisdom and each page is worth reading twice. The style is simple but effective as are the principles that the author outlines along the way. A masterpiece that should be compulsory reading in schools and personal development courses.

One of the best books of all time. The concepts and information packed into "How to win friends..." is clearly built up over a long period of time through trial and error in the real world. Simply brilliant.
A little dated but still a classic
Some of the reviews here point out that Carnegie's seminal manual for self-improvement has dated over the course of over 70 years since its publication. It's a justified reaction as much of the language and references here are either outmoded or seem naive when set against the standards we have today. Nevertheless, there is still much to be admired when reading what is really an essential book for anyone who wishes to change a negative world outlook into something more productive.
Carnegie's real skill is in finding wonderful examples to illustrate the points he makes, with the tale of Tippy the dog being a personal favourite of mine. For some (particularly fellow Brits!), his chirpy and upbeat writing style may become cloying, but I always found - on my multiple re-readings of this book - that the tone becomes more and more likable as time moves on. I found that using the right balance when writing for an audience who are looking to improve themselves wasn't easy when I wrote my own book - Get Real! Relationship Success is an Inside Job - but taking a few tips from Carnegie without 'going the whole hog' certainly helped.
