Eviews self-provided manual expains everything!
Actually I bought this book for the Software (Eviews student version) included. The material in the book is good althought introductory. it covers the basic and it is a good start. However, eviews self-provided manual expains everything crearly. To be honest I wouldn't buy it without the software included.
One of the VERY FEW books teaching efficiently how to use Eviews 
I bought this book at a time I thought I would be lost with Eviews without it. It is not the case anymore, but still I don't regret a single second the purchase.
I mean, even though it is not systematic, there are still teachers teaching econometrics without teaching the students how to apply the techniques with a software. What is the profit for you then? None, because theory is completely useless if you can't apply it (I hope most people are convinced we do not learn econometric for the sake of statistical theory). Then when you are obliged to rely on self-teaching, guess what? There are very few books actually teaching you the basics of the software so that you can really get a start.
This book is one of these few priceless helps. I will be clear : I bought the Eviews book only, and not the theoretical book. But even though I was using an other book for the theory, this book made me able to compute anything on Eviews. The book really assumes you start from 0 knowledge, and takes you by the hand to explain everything from the beginning, yes even how to import an excel file or to perform a single variable OLS. Then most major fields of econometrics are covered (although not in-depth). In the end, when you are confortable with the software, it becomes easy to switch to the user's manual for more advanced topics, and you finally discover that the manual is actually well designed as well. Still, I don't think the user's manual can do the job for a complete beginner, so this book will really not be a waste of money.
