Strength from your Strengths 
This is a very simply written guide to getting you to understand and focus on your strengths, rather than the negatives which are normally focussed on. After reading a short introductory section, you use a unique code enveloped at the back of the book to answer questions on-line to determine your key strengths. You then use the rest of the book to read about your each of your key strengths - enabling you to dip in and dip out of the different strengths. This works particularly well if a whole team go through the process, allowing you to map out a team's strengths and play to people's different skill sets.
A little more than a code! 
Having read some of the only a code reviews I have to disagree. I definitely feel that you need to read the book "first, break all the rules" to fully appreciate the ideas behind the test. The test itself is extremely accurate and there is a section which gives ideas on how you can become a more productive manager and to fully work on your strengths or "talents" as they like to call them. For those who feel that they haven't given enough of what to do with the information, Gallup have recently published "12: The Elements of Great Managing", this book is full of working examples of how the 12 question survey of gallups can be implemented.
In all I'd say that the book is worth it's cost (JUST ABOUT FOR THE TEST) but if you are looking for a deep insight stick with first break all the rules. If you are a person who needs step by step instruction on how to implement everything then couple it with the book 12. If you are already a capable manager... my advice: Simply do the test, read the results and then take the advice.
Strengthsfinder 2.0
I bought this as a contination of their earlier vetsion which I did about four years ago. Interestingly, 4 out of my 5 strengths remained the same, and the new one could be argued the toss for the other. This is an excellent tool for team building (as a group)and for understanding yourself as an individual and member of a team. Useful easy read
This has been a useful little book. It takes a positive approach on one's capacity rather than focusing on what your're lacking. That is refreshing. The online test was good although the time limit became a little irritating as I was not alone in the room and missed several questions because I was interrupted. Lock yourself away before starting the test!
