Customer Reviews:
we have some things in common
I am still reading the book. It is nice to read about places you are familiar with. He writes about towns in Co Down, NI that I know well - Newtownards, Comber, Donaghadee. I lived in Newtownards from the age of 10, until I got married at 23. I may well have been sitting next to him on the bus one day !
Also, I now live in France and Paddy also has a house here.
We both are fond of the people of Bosnia - I have worked there, (2005 and 2009 ) with an organisation called Healing Hands Network. We provide complimentary therapies to the people who suffered and are still suffering after the war there.
Just at chapter 12. Very enjoyable, funny and interesting.

A Remarkable Autobigraphy of a Remarkable Man
This book reveals the incredible life of a truly interesting man who has courage, tenacity and a willingness to help others. It is at times funny, at times serious and at times sad. As he himself has said, he has had five separate lives, all lived to the full. Not to be missed, a book to remember. Well written Paddy Ashdown.

Excellent book
I don t really read politicians books, never been interested but this is a good book; I took it on holiday and couldn t put it down....

truely a fortunate life
A Fortunate Life

This a success story that flows nicely through a good life.
A better than adverage start as a child, but no silver spoons here, a determind man with hard work, a bit of luck ( as he admits ), true to himself and his personal values makes this a good interesting and entertaining read with candor, humour and honesty.
I think he deserved his Fortunate Life.

Paddy can't be put down!
Have only just started reading this book and have found it really enjoyable. I am looking forward to each chapter. It is well written, entertaining and gives a direct and honest insight into the times and the man whose life has been both 'fortunate' and extraordinary. Ashdown is possibly the best Prime Minister we have never had.
