Stand up perspective
The second part of Peter Kay's autobiography deals with his life as a stand up comedian, he seems to be playing out his life in chunks, so I am sure there will be another volume in a year or so. And that's not a bad thing because this is an easy, light and amusing read. It is fairly short at about 240 pages so I read this in a day without much difficulty at all.

He is a funny, down to earth guy and this part of his life is told very much in his style and contains the occasional paragraph of his act to illustrate his comedy at certain points in time. No ghost writing here, this is very much Peter Kay's voice. There are many amusing anecdotes and situations and some glimpses of some quite famous names.

Kay joined the stand up circuit just as it exploded and he acknowledges he was very lucky to be in the right place at the right time, so the opportunity was there if you were funny enough, and his humour hit just the right note. Having said that he shows us how he honed his craft through hard graft in the local clubs and then his reputation and areas of engagement got bigger and bigger. But in order to evolve into the Peter Kay we know, there were a lot of smoke filled clubs, corporate events and bits of warm up work.

I enjoyed this, interesting and amusing if not quite laugh out loud funny. Now, people will be upset that I have only gone for a three star marking, but it felt a little too short and while it is a fun read, it was not exceptional enough for me to move it up to four stars.

Saturday Night Peter
A trully brilliant read. Makes you laugh out loud, smile while reading. Arrived with in three days of purchase. Comical memories of his days when young and growing up to present day, along with his friends, family and all who has helped him through out his career.

Sound of laughter amazing, saturday night peter, still very good
Hmmm, the sound of laughter was an amazing book in my opinion so to do another after this that is as good was proably quite difficult. Is a really great book, a pager turner, has laugh out lound moments and in general is a quite funny biography that isn't too serious.

The Sound of Silence
Peter (very sadly) hasn't written any new material since the mid-90s... he really needs to 'come in t'naughties' and branch out. I feel like I've gone to Alcudia, won a timeshare, paid a deposit and got screw all. Written in a couple of afternoons in time for Christmas. Recommend it to a friend? No thank you, no thank you. The Sound of Laughter was top drawer. This more Rocky 6 to Rocky3/4.
