Dissapointed
I bought this book on the strength of the reviews here. But I have to say having read the book initially it was dissapointing. As a sales professional I am always looking at ways to enhance my persuasion skills. Though there were useful things such as building rapport with a stranger by assuming you know them already, most of this stuff I felt was familar with so thought it was of little use.
Though no stranger to communication am relatively new to the idea of NLP. I could understood the concepts of the book but there was a feeling perhaps there are further and more powerful things out there that can be learned. These things are not really touched but thats hardly possible with this small 'thin' book. Having read the book again and again I could see how it could be of use. It gives ideas that are potentially useful and in conjunction with other sources out there such books, internet articles, etc it can lay the foundation to greater development in this area. As the author says its only possible to become effective with practice.
As an overall its a good book for a beginner with some understanding of NLP. Shame from the start the book is leading to get the reader to buy one of his seminars.
Disappointing 
Originally bought to research a character for a book.
Bad typos and grammar, Despite what the author says it offers nothing more than any other run of the mill NLP books out there, and the whole thing seems like a dull run up to his e-course that he offers at the end.
Disappointing and defiantly not worth the price.
I am now persuaded... 
Hmmm... I did think this might all turn out to be a big load of mumbo jumbo. After all, I've heard a few people trying to dress up NLP to make it sound like rocket science. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this book, and the way that the subject is brought to life in way that helps the reader understand the practicalities. Perhaps it would have been a sign of the book's failure if I hadn't come away from it persuaded as to the value of NLP!

Persuasion Skills Black Book: Practical NLP Language Patterns for Getting The Response You Want
I bought this book with the intention of pursuing my interest in the persuasive abilities sales people and others introduce, while the book did give me a set of patterns to follow, I did not feel it had done enough to explain why the effects are supposed to work but rather left the reader with these patterns to explore themselves.
the style of the book is fairly simple to follow. However, the author has tried to incorporate far too many uses of his style of NLP within the book itself and I feel it does not read well as a whole but rather as a sticking together of many smaller sources such as you would find in leaflets etc.
I also found the book to be rather patronising, it is if the author is leading the reader through the most complex linguistic construction; unfortunately he isn't.
In the end, the book is a useful guide for those wishing to develop their skills in persuasion, however I do not feel there is enough of a grounding in the reasoning behind the results that the author claims to have achieved. I would have expected deeper explanations of his results. Furthermore, the book itself is rather simple. The patterns that are described in the book to help persuade people, I found to be rather straight forward and using in life all the time.
Anyway, if your looking for a simplified introduction into the area of NLP and persuasive techniques this could be the book for you. However, if your after a book that is more technical and introduces greater understanding avoid this book...
Great Little Book on Persuasion Techniques 
Having been through the NLP mill and come out the other side, I know that I don't use half of the skills I learnt as effectively as I could. However, this book has re-awakened my interest as it does what it says on the tin. It cuts through some of the more complex NLP theories and gives you straightforward help on how to use language patterns in your life, work and business. I think that it would help if you had some grounding in NLP before you read the book as it still gets a little technical in places and the author does jump around somewhat, which is the only reason I gave it 4 not 5 stars.
My tip would be to read the book, practice some of the exercises and then go back through it with a highlighter pen and pencil and make notes on all the bits you want to use again and again. This is what I did and I have got a lot more out of the book using it in this way. I have used some of the language patterns and they do work and make a big difference to the way you communicate with people both verbally and when you are writing. As a marketeer and author of The Brighter Marketing Bible, making sure that your marketing is inspiring and persuasive is vitally important and this book can help you become more effective at communicating.
