Customer Reviews:Shameless
Even as a beginner, i found the advice in this book to be limited. If you have never read a book about trading before, then this book is aimed at you. The problem with this is, there are several other books which give a much more informative introduction to the topic.
Allow me to outline my main problem with this book though, the author himself.
The book is FULL, beyond belief, with attempts to lure you to his website or to his seminars (even after pointing out throughout this book that it would be wiser to actually invest money rather than spending it on a seminar or two), or to buy things from other websites, which the author would no doubt recieve a cut of. The author speaks of the wonders of residual income repeatedly, and it seems evident that he sees the readers of his book as only 'potential residual'. It seemed to me that the author cared very little about the quality of the book and was concentrated whole-heartedly upon luring as much money from the reader as he possibly could.
A view of his website further supports this theory, with 10 offers on the first page i looked on from which i suspect will make the author a fair commission. Entirely SHAMELESS.
-Furthermore, while it may or may not be funny to mention eating toast a couple of times, the authors insistance upon talking about it at least 20-30-40... countless... times is simply infuriating to say the least.-
All of this could possibily be excused if the information was useful. Well, while the messages in this book may have been relevant during a consistent bull market, they couldn't be further from the truth outside of one.
Overall, a very frustrating read, with little to no real content which is relevant to the current climate.
Readers beware.
Good read
A very good book and just in time as I have a bit of spare cash to invest.
Highly recommended!
Much better books out there
Complete beginners may find this book useful in describing a little of how the stock market operates, but as a general trading book it has many flaws.
Like a lot of books written around the same time (during a consistant bull market) the strategy is no longer relevant, indeed anyone following this advise during 2008/9 would have lost money.
The author likes to portray investing as a relaxing part time hobby where the only stress will be running out of bread as you make bucket loads of toast, but to read some of the entries on his website reveals someone who is incredibly jittery when markets are falling.
My main concern is the secondary nature of the investment advice, which just seems like a vehicle to advertise his many 'offers', seminars, websites, books and other various advertisement. If someone is such a sucessful trader then surely there is no need to sell out for crumbs like this.
Paid for itself in days
I began trading a few months ago and just last week decided I should learn what the hell I'm doing.
Read Robbie Burn's book in 5 days and have already saved the cost of it by dumping a share I should have never got into.
The Naked Trader is a no nonsense, no jargon, "This is how you pick a share" book. If you don't want to get bogged down by picking apart charts and accounts, this is the book for you.
Of course, Robbie doesn't say, "You can make money without doing any work". Quite the contrary, he says, if you do your research and follow a few hard-learned rules, you'll increase your chances of picking winners. Just don't get bogged down with the minute details.
Plus, if you have a question you can email him directly and he will answer (replied to me just 6 hours after I mailed him - I don't even reply that quickly to my mates).
Highly recommended.
Winning formula
A really good initial read on trading. Covers everything you need to know to get started. Including most importantly stock selection criteria and trading rules to keep you on the profitable path. So far one of the best books I have read on trading. An up-todate classic by a nice guy.
