Good, but lacking an adventurous punch. ![]()
Tempted is book number 6 in the House of Night series. I really liked it, it's an easy read and took less than a day to finish. For some reason this book felt MUCH shorter than the previous 5, though perhaps that's because I was flying through it without interuption this time.
There are good points and there are bad points. I guess in general, I really quite like the series so perhaps I'm being a little generous with the rating. My main issue with Tempted is that it's not overly progressive, there isn't really an awful lot that happens in the book. The reason for this however, may be that the book is not just from Zoey's point of view. Stevie Rae, Heath, Stark and one other who I won't mention, all lend their thoughts during the book, which is possibly why it feels as though it doesn't have as much progress, why there isn't as much action etc. I liked that the book was told from different perspectives, but it did cut the action short as each person relayed their part of the story over the same space of time as the previous chapter.
Zoey's boy issues, for me were a little more cleared up in this book. Initially, Zoey's inability to just choose between them frustrated me beyond belief and had me thinking of her as more than a little pathetic and needy. However, this book delves a little deeper into the true meanings behind each relationship with the boys and made it clearer why Zoey wasn't prepared to give them up, why she needed each of them etc.
The ending, I thought was great. Total cliffhanger and really annoying, but still a fab way to finish. All in all, I liked the book, but if I'm honest, I would have liked it far more if I'd waited until May for Burned and then just read the two back to back. Tempted to me felt more like a bridge, it needed to be written to get the next book done, but it wasn't overly adventurous. Still, an enjoyable read and another hit for the House of Night series.
Definately a Must read!! ![]()
I have read the previous HoN books and Love the storyline thus far. In this instalment I liked the different way it was written from different points of view, allowing you to get into the heads of the other characters and find out their deepest secrets they keep from one another.
I have just finished it in one sitting and must say the cliff-hanger ending had me teary-eyed and wanting to read more!! I now await impatiently for 'Burned' to come to the shops. Praise be to the Casts for this wonderful story.
the "go to" book. ![]()
firstly, i'd like to say i like this series - a lot!
this book however i class as a "go to" i.e. like movies this book is the stop gap/ the area to explain what will happen in the next/ the build-up. its sad for me to say that because i have enjoyed the series. i will enjoy the next but this one for me was pointness for 3/4 of it.
What is it about this series that i love??? ![]()
This is for the entire series!!! The reason i love this so much is that the characters are realistic (if a little too teenage) and there is something in each charcter that you just love.
Zoey Redbird just banished Kalona and Neferet from Tulsa and they think they can relax when they get back to the House Of Night but things go out of control again. Not only that she manages to sort out her 3 BF's!!!! i know SHOCK!!!
The ending is shocking and i never expected it. Stevie Rae's humanity shocks me yet again and i cried...yet again!!!!!!!
One bad thing is that the teenage hormones seem a bit too much (coming from one!!!) although its all funny with the teenage puns!
the other bad this is that I JUST CANT SEEM TO PUT THESE BOOKS DOWN!!!!!!! cant wait for the next one!!!
