pmbok guide - its not clear with the title of this book, but its completely and utterly aimed at people who are firmly established in the corporate field - those working as managers/supervisors/hr/ already, and (this is a major thing) would already be 'au fait' with corporate lingo.
There is a 'definitions'/glossary section which begins with....'many of the words defined here have broader,and in some cases different, dictionary definitions'...
Really what im saying is project management can be complex and far reaching depending on the project,but if you are not familiar with the terminology its like trawling through mud !
I would recommend for anybody in the corporate world no problem otherwise find a simpler clearer book that shows PM simply would be better.

PMBOK 4th Edition
It's just what it says, a learning book, it's good if you need it, that's it.
Project Management Inside Out
Fantastic book I got old version as well, but not good for newbies, you need some thorough understanding or project management and its methodologies, bit dry but contains almost everything to the point as we need.
PMBOK 
It's just what is it says on the tin. This is the latest udate to the standard guide. As usual, it is clear and fairly concise in each section. It covers a huge territory and is an extremely useful reference for all serious Project and (possibly even more so) Programme Managers

PMBOK is the bible for the PMP cert. amazon is little more expensive than the other sites but the delivery options are excellent.
