Good value, but very slow to connect to satellite
I've been using the forerunner for a month or so now. I think it's a good product and good value, my reason for giving it 3* is because of the painfully long time it can take to find a satellite.
I'd give it 4* if it were quicker to connect, and 5* if the software was better.
Good points:
1. It's very accurate.
Compared to my Nokia phone which has GPS and training software, the Forerunner's distances were spot on - compared to my phone which gave distances that were about 20% out (6 miles vs 5 miles is a big difference!)
2. It's good value; I haven't seen anything close in this price bracket.
3. The PC software is quite good. It looks like it needs a bit of a makeover, but it does the job.
Bad points:
1. It can take a very long time to lock on to a satellite; the worst example being about 15 minutes, and on average I'd say 3-4 minutes, outdoors.
When you consider that my Nokia GPS phone can find the satellite in under 20 seconds in the same locations, I don't really understand why the Forerunner is so bad - after all, GPS is the primary function of the device.
2. There isn't a light on the display; which is a bit of a problem when running during dark winter evenings.

A great buy - lots of good options to help you track & improve your training times and routines.
If you don't need / want a heart rate monitor then this does everything else you could need form a GPS device.
Dont leave home without it!
I Have to say this is a great piece of kit. I am training for the a marathon and this is exactly what i needed.
It is simple to use, and although larger than a normal watch, its weight is so low that you don't even notice it on your wrist. It never has a problem with picking up the satellites, even on really overcast days and in the middle of town!
The only bad point about the whole package is the software you get to upload info to your PC. Its is VERY basic. I would recommend downloading "SportTracks". Its free and a million times better. Especially if you want to view your routs routes using google earth and track you speed/pace and every given distance. A great aid to see if you are improving.
In all, I don't what how i managed without it! I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

I bought this for my husband as he doing next years marathon. He loves it, it does exactly as specified and was delivered super fast. A very pleased customer.
Good Gadget
I bought this model as I dont need a heart rate monitor. Mainly using it to tell me how far I've run, pace and time. Instructions are a bit difficult to understand but got there in the end. Face is clear and big enough to see without my specs on. I run x3 a week - long comfortable run, fast run and some speed training so it's been a big help with all of these. I wont be using all the functions - I am not serious enough a runner do do that. Good that you just put it on your wrist and go - no other bits to remember. Havent had any problems with the gps yet though some other users say it can go blank from time to time. Glad I bought it.
