Handy Accessory ![]()
A useful accessory to own for use of your Garmin Nuvi GPS outside of your car. I bought it to charge my unit while on holiday in France. The unit charges quickly through this adaptor.
Garmin Nuvi Satnav ![]()
This product works best when there is a passenger to interpret what's going on. There is a lot of on screen information which the passenger can use such as the names of streets you are passing when you are nearing a turn. I do not see how the driver could read the screen while driving safely and the voice instructions can be a bit confusing as sometimes she shouts at you to make a turn just after you've done it or alternatively sometimes a little early. However with a good passenger it is a brilliant aid as the maps of junctions are very clear to view and the route you are to take is clearly marked. It is marvellous when you don't have a street plan of a town and we are very pleased with it. Sometimes she doesn't tell you which way to go at a roundabout until you are too close to select the correct lane however with a passenger you are OK as the correct exit to take is written at the top of the screen. The passenger does need to concentrate though. If you go wrong she recalculates your route very quickly so that is not a problem. Finally, The voice is very clear indeed and as I have hearing problems this is vital. Altogether we are pleased we bought it and find it very useful.
Mains charger, as described ![]()
I purchased this item to go with the Garmin Sat Nav I had also received via amazon as part of a present for my daughter. She is thankful that I bought the charger as it makes it easier when setting up trips and use when not in the car.
If you buy a sat nav i would recommend a mains charger too if it does come already supplied.
My first Sat Nav ![]()
I selected this one after reading all the excellant reviews about it on Amazon.
I'd looked on Which? and it wasn't there, then the very next day when I went on to check something else on Which? it had appeared. They'd just reviewed it and it had top score.
Amazon's excellant price won the day and I haven't regretted the decision.
We've done trips so far that involve a radius of less than 50 miles, but this summer have to go to Southampton from Yorkshire and that will be the serious test for me.
Only one criticism so far, we put in a valid postcode of a Station on the Worth Valley Railway near Keighthly in Yorkshire and it couldn't find it in the database!!
Otherwise, instructions are very clear as are the graphics and it's very easy to use.
