Panasonic DVD HDD recorder
This is very easy to use for simple recording and viewing. I am still wrestling with the more complicated parts but it is still early days.
Excellent product 
I bought a Panasonic DMR-EX69EB-Freeview +160GB hard drive a month ago.Iam very pleased with it. I soon had it up and running.
I especially like the hard drive as it is so easy to use.The pause live tv is very useful. I can also start to watch a programme at the start while it is still recording which saves waiting to finish recording. Also if I have watched a programme and haven't time to see the finish, with just the press of a couple of buttons it will start to record and turn off at a set time. Then I can turn off the tv and watch it later. There are many more features but I will have to plough through the manual to work out. I am not too keen on the adverts on the freeview guide as it makes it a bit cluttered but this is a minor gripe. I would recommend the product to anyone as it is easy to use.By the way I am nearly 66 and it is a doddle to operate.
Probably best to look elsewhere 
BE WARNED! Does not allow you to record and view another channel at the same time if you are using it as a freeview box for an analogue tv. First one arrived and was very loud when playing DVDs and even produced a slight plastic burning smell. Amazon very good with return policy. Ordered replacement which is less noisy but I still think the interactive guide looks a bit cheap, the font used is a bit nasty. Hard drive works well and transfer from hard drive to DVD relatively straight forward. Quite slow when turning on. Instruction booklet over-technical at times. Not the product I expected from a company with the reputation that Panasonic has.
excellent product
Great delivery came when advised and the recorder was exactly as described I particularly liked the ability to ask questions before ordering.
Easy to set up and to work nice remote with easy buttons not too small; some manufacturers seem to make remotes very difficult to use not this one.
Would recommend this to anyone

Excellent HD recorder with freeview decoder. Very easy to use. HDMI output and up conversion excellent Only two minor shortfalls. Does not seem to remember where you were in a HD recorded program if you stop viewing and come back to it on another day. Nor does it tell you how far through a recording you are. Both these features are available on the BTVision box
The only downside is that you cannot play other region DVDs. My mistake, I should have paid £20 more and purcahsed the panasonic unit that supports multi region DVDs.
Apart from this issue, which was my fault, I would give it 5 stars
