Not very good have wires all over not just powered by usb and was no compatable with my windows vista.

Up to now, this 500GB external desktop drive has proved perfect for my needs, providing a simple to use back up for all my documents and photos at a very good price. I have not had it very long but have encountered no problems whatsoever up to now. I may well purchase another one to separate documents from photos or as a further back up.

Bought for my daughter at university to store media project work. She took it out of the box and set it up in minutes.
She has been very pleased with it ease of use and realiability.

No problems so far
I purchased this external drive to replace another make of drive which totally corrupted my Vista PC, resulting in total data loss on the external drive, and complete reformatting of my PC. I did get a replacement drive from work, but they insisted on giving me the same make/type, and although this did work OK (but slower), I was never happy with it after the problems with the original one.
I use the drive not only to store 3d files, but also work directly from the drive in SolidWorks. Whether this drive being formatted as NTFS is the reason or not, this drive is much faster than the [Buffalo] 500GB drive I had before. Just plug it in and away it goes. Now working on Windows XP. The only thing that my PC doesn't like is if I leave it plugged in and start up the PC, but this is probably more to do with the PC setup more than anything else. It is neat, runs quietly and stays fairly cool. As it is a 'horizontal' type of case, rather than an upright type, it cannot be accidentally knocked over onto its side. It needs an external power source, but that is to be expected, given a drive of this speed and performance. Those that get there power from the USB cable tend to be far slower in my experience. It takes me around 10 minutes to back up all the data into my PC (12.5GB)
In summary: so far so good, I would recommend this drive to anyone who is looking for a 'working' drive, not just a drive for storage.
Idiot proof!
It arrived, I plugged it in and it worked straight away using drag and drop to copy my important files and documents! No software to install, no problems at all. Idiot proof way of protecting your important data, music photos etc. If you are in the market for a back up drive I have no hesitation in recommending this one.
