Slow and noisy
I have to concur with recent reviews:
1. It clicks a lot when active.
2. Not reliable for video playback. Too much stuttering.
3. I'll have to simply demote this to a backup role.
If it had been available at the time, I would have gone for the Samsung Story Station 1.5TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive
Reliable drive, faultless after 6 months use. 
I've had the Seagate Expansion 1.5Tb in use for 6 months now, and have to say it has worked flawlessly.
Reading some recent Amazon reviews, and some comments elsewhere, it would certainly appear that Seagate have some kind of `early failure' problem affecting some recent drives. Googling almost any make of hard drive, you will find a mixture of polarised reviews - they either work fine or else crash & burn, with no brand being immune.
In the 6 months mine has been in use, I have certainly used & abused it. Lengthy backups & validations, and defragmentation routines too, have sometimes left this unit working non-stop for days. I haven't had a single problem.
The flat/sleek design lacks a fan, which can be seen as a good or bad thing: Fans keep hard drives cooler, but also can fail themselves and so prematurely finish your drive. Mine gets warm (the case is only 35C after days of running) but never hot. It makes no noise except a quiet shriek for the first second of spinning-up. No clicks or anything else.
I think prospective buyers should pause for thought here. Any hard-drive may fail (about 1 in 100 apparently) and its failure is only a disaster if you haven't mirrored the data elsewhere (those using one for extra space, not backup, be warned). Microsoft's free & excellent SyncToy 2.1 will do a fine job of synchronising data to another drive for safety. Most electronic failures will occur very early in a product's life (Google `bathtub curve'), well within warranty, and if a buyer submits their new drive to extended tests, using Window's detailed surface scan, or the free SeaTools utility, which spend many hours crawling over the disk, this will give ample time to ensure you've got a good one before entrusting data to it.
So, would I buy another? Yes, definitely, given the provisos above. And with the price tumbling due to the occasional failures mentioned, you could argue they are better value than ever.
Its start giving noking noise, I lost the mail stating order ref. so unable to complain or return
This seagate 1.5TB drive with in a week, start giving "knocking noise" and some time stop data and then start, but cracking noise looks like drive will not last long. I unfortunately lost order confirmation mail, where we usually got link to complain for return. so i am using it ocasionally, but we never had any problems on other around 8 externel drives we bought from Amazon, thats are usually "Western Digita" and "Maxtor". Western digital have one problem of there 5 pin power supply cable, normaly pins got bend and then break, out of our 6 drives, we are having only 2 powersupply remaining, rest has broken pins and un useable. Maxtor and seagate power connector is simple and easy.

Sexy black box [fnarr fnarr yuk yuk]
A very nice looking hard disc. my computer is the same colour as is my lcd screen so it sits on the top of the computer and blends in well.
The shiny black is all vouge right now. probably be out of fashion in a few years time but then we'll all be buying SSD 5TB discs won't we.
Fast transfer and loads of space. what more do you want?
Sticky start but Amazon to the rescue 
I bought this hard drive after reading reviews and thinking I'd made an informed decision.
When I came to use it, the set up was incredibly simple, I thought it may have been slightly tricksey, but fortunately not.
I use a mac, which instantly recognised the correct format to choose.
(You can easily find quick start tutorials on youtube to help you too.) Done. Up and running.
Then I heard clicking and my mac started losing colour on screen and fading up and down. However, I emailed Amazon and received a prompt reply, 15 mins, how good is that? Even better, they said to expect a replacement in the next day or two as it had been dispatched.
Easy set up, no problems and loads of storage space. I transfered back to my mac the files from faulty hard drive to shiny new one. No issues with the files, all working properly.
Ultimately happy, but using Amazon as the seller was the best move.
Great service and happy with product.
