Toshiba LCD/DVD combi
Bought this TV for the bedroom after searching for a TV/DVD combi. This was by far the best priced in its range with a recognised brand name and the quality is first class. The picture is very clear and sound more than adequate for a bedroom. The DVD is accesible and simple to use. Great remote, unlike others we looked at, where you had to have children's fingers to hit the buttons!. Overall a great product and an excellent price.
Great Tosh
At the price a great little telly. HD tuner and quality is on par with sets that are much more expensive, set up is dead simple, factory settings for picture quality, sharpness, colour etc are spot on and the viewing angle is very good. If there is a down side then its the sound quality - a bit thin and tinny - but bearable - and be careful, compared to other older sets of this size its very light!!

Toshiba LCD/DVD combi
This Toshiba 19in combi TV/DVD was purchased from Amazon as a replacement for a "Goodmans" 'high' spec tv/combi (bought from a High Street store in Jan 2008) which effectively died after just under 21 months of use in our bedroom. (Note: The Goodmans item was out of warranty when it died. Whereas the TV was guaranteed for 24months, the DVD unit in it was only guaranteed for 12months - and the help line (somewhere in India!!) was worse than useless. No offer to assist with repairs etc, so we will never buy a "Goodmans" branded product again (same brand range as ALBA, BUSH etc) and would caution anyone to think 100 times about doing so!) Back to Toshiba. We already have a 36in Toshiba Rezva TV and have been very impressed with that so we expected similar quality from its small cousin. The TV/DVD combi (with Freeview) is simple to set up and whilst it lacks some of the functionality which came with the Goodmans equivalent (SD slot, USB port etc)., the picture is miles better and the sound is more than adequate for the bedroom. It also has audio / video in / out sockets which means it could be hooked up to an amplifier if required. DVD playback is also good, although sound is a bit tinny with not much oomph from the bass and therefore on a stars rating we are currently marking the Toshiba unit as 4. We will see how long it lasts! Dragon.

We were so impressed when first out of box - plugged it in, it tuned itself, and was working in less than 5 mins - superb picture and good audio too.
However, channels suddenly stopped being available, the TV would turn itself on every so often (had to turn off at wall to stop this), and running the auto-tune again which we had to do every day or so would only find a few channels. We tried it in other TV sockets in the house, where it still didn't work, our other Freeview boxes were all fine, so it was not a problem with our reception, ariel or with the socket.
Called Toshiba Helpline today (Sunday) who answered immediately, and very quickly said they know of the problem of the TV turning itself on and were working on a fix; but that the TV should remember the channels it found once in standby, and even once switched off at the wall, so they felt this set was faulty.
They said a newer model is just out which remedies these faults. We will return ours to Amazon this week as faulty, and will wait for the new one to be available and give that a go instead.
Pity - it was lovely when it worked!
