Unfortunately twice i had it and both the times i had a faulty item, very disappointed with this
So far, so good! :D
Just a quick review related to the software (TomTom Home).
I've got my TT XL IQ Routes Europe since Thursday and my main concern when I've bought this item was the bad reviews about the software and related hardware problems.
I don't know if I got lucky or if I have done the right things but everything went very nicely and smoothely for me during the installation. First thing I've done was to install the TomTom Home software from the TomTom website and not from the version pre-install in the Satnav. Once installed I've restarted my computer and then I've hooked up the device with the supplied USB cable. Windows did its usual thing: new device connected... I've let it search automatically for the drivers and that was it.
As soon as TomTom Home was on and linked with the Satnav I've performed a backup. It was very long (roughly 2hours) but I think it is the most important thing to do if you want to avoid the problems raised in several reviews (complete hardware failure without backup).
Then I've disconnected the device and checked that it was working fine. Only after all theses steps I've reconnected it to the software and gone trough the updates.
So to conclude I am very happy with it so far and had no problems conencting the Stanav to the software and installing updates from it.
I will review the Satnav later (only had it since a few days) but I don't expect to be disappointed.
Start up problems
Very pleased with the unit, it does what it says on the box ... only downside was that the start up language was Polish, or an eastern european one ... and for that reason it was difficult finding out what buttons to press to change the language to English.
JUST PERFECT 
I got TomTom XL IQ as I need to make a long journey from Southsea to North Yorkshire via picking up people in London ......
I was amazed TomTom was excellent finding the quickest route and never got me lost also the motorway instructions are a life saver. The warnings of speed cameras spot on informs you of when to take a driving break also where all road and motorway services are.
very easy to set up in five minutes all updated on PC then you are ready to go stores all your favorite destinations I highly recommend this TomTom never leave home without it now .....
Just right for the job
This item is the best price I could find and just what my
Wife wanted to find her way around
