Generally Good
I've had the Humax box for a few weeks now. For the money, it's a pretty decent bit of kit. The menus are easy to navigate and it's almost as good as having Sky Plus. But not quite. It does crash every now and then (maybe once a week, or a little more) which is annoying, but my Sky Plus used to crash too. They all do. Seems odd that they provide you with the flimsiest of instruction manuals. I contacted them about this and they just mailed me the full, unabridged one, which is nice. But why not give them out in the first place? Anyway, generally satisfied. I didn't expect perfection. And I haven't got it. I've got something that does the job in a fairly unfussy way.
Suitable for technophobes
Well I bought this model after a lot of research. Id never even heard of Humax before but found it being applauded in all the reviews and techie boards. Im a total dumbo with anything technical but even I managed to fumble about and get this up and running in 10 minutes. Im sure there are lots of features I havent recognised yet but I am easily able to record and play back and also pause tv programs to answer the phone etc.
The one thing I didnt like was the fact you dont get a handbook, but a dvd !! In fact I printed all of the handbook from the dvd because its a ridiculous idea that you consult the dvd with queries. Everyone with a new appliance wants to be able to browse through pages in their hand, not on a screen.
Humax PVR300T 
I bought a Humax PVR300T 2 weeks ago and it has crashed 6 times. This is a known issue and a fix has been issued but the box does not have an usb connection so I can't download and install the update via my pc. The over the air update for this model of Humax is not scheduled for this week or next even though the fix was released on the 12th of November. Would not recommend buying one of these boxes
excellent product
I checked the reviews before buying.
The Humax 9300T was highly recomended and I have had no problems with it at all.
They said that if you turn it to stand-by, when you power up again it searches for all the guide info (this can take upto 5 minutes but quicker if set to BBC 1). This is no problem unless you want to record something straight away,but you can still press instant record to record the program you have on-screen.
I surf the guide during the adverts and a couple of times it has locked up on me if i try to do too much at once but by switching off and on it will return to normal with no further problems.
Overall a very good recorder,with a very good picture and twin tuners to record 2 channels at the same time.
I would score this 4 and 3/4 if it were available.(nothings perfect)
Poor standard
This was bought as a replacement (for my parents in law) for a 9200T that was locking up. Within the first few minutes of connecting this up it was pausing on playback of live tv, a slightly less than perfect signal causes the output/decoding to pause for a half second or so every few minutes.
In addition to that, within a day the whole unit was freezing within an hour or so of being turned on and also not completing recordings.
Was sent back a week later for a full refund (no quibbles from Amazon - thanks!)...
I previously recommended Humax (have a Topfield ourselves but without the taps it's pretty ugly and limited on screen) - on the strength of this and the previous model then I wont be recommending Humax again...
