Great battery life and does its job well
The battery life of this little fellow is amazing. I am not using heavily this one so I am charging it perhaps only 2-3 times a week. The fan is slightly noisy in moments but nothing too bad, although may be problematic if you are in a very quiet classroom. Youtube works fine, same with Skype, its good enough to browse net and write notes in Word and this is exactly what we needed it for. In overall its a great laptop!

OK, but not for me
Although I did review all/most contributors points of view of the Asus Shell on Amazon and I purchased it on the issue of the long battery life(which is very good), when I started to use it I found that my fingers were tending to hit more than the key I was aiming at.

For this reason I sold the Shell on to my daughter (smaller fingers) within a week of purchase and decided that the keyboard was not suited to my male fingers, I haven't bought another notebook yet, but when I do I will want a keyboard with raised keys, I do know that the Samsung notebook has this, another point is that when travelling I found that the shiny screen had a lot of awkward reflections, the Samsung (my son-i-law has one)I thought was not so reflective and the case is more of a matt finish thus not so susceptible to fingermarks.

Great little netbook
Almost everything that you'd want from a netbook. Why almost, well, it came with XP Home installed.

I installed Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Full Version (PC DVD) as soon as it was released along with Office 2007, and now I have everything I want from a netbook.

Adding the additional ASUS drivers and utilities took a bit of effort, but they are available from the Asus support website, and relatively straightforward.

I bought this model because I was looking for good battery life, and this netbook delivers on this.

With Windows 7 installed, I can now give this the 5 stars that it deserves!

Beware! - Wireless Problem

My last laptop was the original Asus 701 series, which was great, so was eager to purchase the 1005ha. Out of the box everything seemed, fine except, when taking it to my University library, I was the only one to have problems connecting to the wireless internet, with the connection continually dropping. I had a chat to a fellow student (an Aeronautics engineer - so no slouch) who couldn't figure out the problem, and then when checking forums online, it seems there could be problem with the Atheros wireless card. I may have to return the machine, which will cost me a lot in terms of lost work and time. Disappointed
