Very Pleased With This Multi Purpose Machine.
I mainly bought this product so that I could dowload my video from my camcorder and then put it on to a disc.This is something I have never been able to do through my computer in over 4 years I have had the Sony Camcorder. [other people have complained on the internet that they have the same problem] It works perfectly for this purpose along with many other functions.There are still some features that we havn't had time to use yet but it seems to be overall a very good quality product.
Toshiba RDXV59DTKB Good value! 
I purchased this to replace a faulty Panasonic that I've had for a few years, and the Toshiba is the same make as my new Toshiba Regza TV.
Fairly easy to use, but then I'm used to using the Panasonic however, there seems to be far more buttons on the remote, and sadly not one of them is a generic volume control for the TV. Indeed I expected that the Toshiba Regza TV and the Toshiba hard drive recorder would have some kind of manufacturer compatibility such as "Regza Link" but sadly it does not.
The remote is therefore quite difficult to navigate, especially for the uninitiated, and the menus are a little illogical and hard to get used to.
A nice feature is the ability to record a program series like Sky+, but doing so takes quite a few button presses, and even then I was unsure if it had registered the request.
Play back is easy, but it only lists six programs on each page as the title pictures are a little too big, and no way of altering it to a text based list.
My unit has crashed once, displaying just a blank screen, but rebooting the unit cured this and all has been well since.
All in all this represents great value for money, considering my old Panasonic cost over £500, but I do miss the dual use remote even though I could only change channel and alter the volume before, you can't do any of this with the Toshiba remote.

Excellent picture quality through sky hd and freeview; wide range of input/output; reasonably large storage capacity; looks good.
Manual not that clear 
Pleased with the look of this, but the manual is not very clear and it can be a bit confusing, but if you work through it step by step you get there. Reproduction very good and it's better than having to work via two or three different units. Certain we will finally master all the different options . Only major downside is that we are unable to purchase a second remote control, service from Toshiba not good, after waiting sometime for a reply they pointed us towards a site that didn't have the item. We like to have two remotes for all of our gizmos and it's not available on any of the normal sites.
Excellent all in one recorder
This recorder does everything that you could want. With only one working SCART on my TV it was a pain plugging all the various peripherals in and out - this box solves it all. I agree with others that the manual is horridious to start with but with continued use it becomes easier . You do need to read it all from start to finish not just dip in to the bits you think you might need to read. Everything is smooth sailing when dubbing from HDD to DVD or VHS to DVD. Pausing live telly is also a blessing. Very good freeview receiver - I got many new channels that I was unable to get before. Be aware though that if it is doing onr thing you cannot do anything else - you cant watch a DVD for instance if recording TV to HDD.
