Customer Reviews:inadequate
I bought this laptop less than a month ago (Oct 2009). I like the size of it, the look of it, the keyboard layout, the moulded touch pad and the price. The inbuilt card-reader is handy (no more hunting around for my USB card reader). And I got really excited about the Lightscribe DVD burner and bought a spindle of Lightscribe DVD-R's and CD-R's to go with the laptop.
The let-downs:
- faulty USB port(s) or drivers ... not sure which, but two of the three USB ports regularly fail to recognise USB devices, even very basic devices, like a USB mouse, and I have to plug into the one port that has been reliable so far
- the touch pad stopped working all of a sudden after about two and a half weeks of use, and is still not working
- the processor lacks power and struggles to keep up with even a few basic applications (if I'm copying files and trying to watch something in Windows Media Player at the same time, for example)
Overall, I don't think this system is built to a standard which will cope with the basic demands of an average user in today's day and age. I was hoping to use this as my main and only laptop, but now I will have to return it and go through all the the disruption that that entails. And I'll be left with two spindles of Lightscribe writeable media which cost double the non-Lightscribe-compatible kind.

I purchased this laptop at the end of September 09 and have been pleased with it. Originally it was to replace a desktop computer but I dont think a laptop is man enough for the job so I bought a HP desktop too. This laptop is my back up computer now. The battery goes down quicker that I expected especially when you are transferring files, but overall I'm happy with the performance. I had a couple of technical hitches initially but HP were brilliant with their service.
