Norton Internet Security 2010
I used the upgrade version and have 2 computers to protect. The loading and operation was very simple and at the moment all is working well. Consideration was given to change to another product name but I found the NIS to be excellent value.
Back to Norton with relief
I always used norton, but was tempted away 18 months ago by reviews of Karpersky. I had numerous problems and ended up ditching it after 8 months of re-installing, etc. I ran with two free products, which although limited worked OK (AVG free and ZoneAlarm), until september when Norton 2010 was launched. The product just works, has a good interface and just gets on with protection

Symantec back on top form
Symantec have produced a great fully featured security package that does not swamp system resources. This new updated version of the great Norton Internet Security Suite provides both a superb Anti-virus package and a good software firewall; also included is an anti-spam filter. New to this release is reputation engine "Quorum". It works by automatically checking your downloads and files against usage data collected from the millions of Norton installations worldwide. If it finds a program that's not in common circulation - or one that's hosted on a suspiciously new or remote server - it flags it up and advises you to steer clear until Symantec has had a chance to investigate it.
The user interface is divided into three sections entitled Computer, Network and Web It quickly informs you of the state of your systems security, and lets you know whether any actions need to be taken, and lets you turn features on and off. If you want a quick glimpse of the state of your security, you'll just use the main screen, there are plenty of links here to additional data if you like to see exactly what is going on. For example, the Performance link takes you to a screen that offers in-depth detail about CPU and RAM use over the last ten minutes, the last half hour, hour-and-a-half, day, week, and month. The Network Security Map is another useful feature that shows you all of the devices attached to your network, and includes information such as the IP address, MAC address, whether they're online.
The suite installs without a hitch on both 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 7 as well as Windows Vista, which is great as so many security applications do not work well with the 64 bit versions.

Quick and easy Norton Internet Security 2010 - 1 User 3 Computers Upgrade (PC CD)to install but I was unaware that Anti Spam will not run on Microsoft Outlook unless the version is 2003 or later. After some 5 hours of on-line help from Norton (which was very useful) they then realised that it was the version of MS Office that I was running (2000) that caused the problem. I was advised that all I need to do is install a later version of Office and the problem will be solved.
I am in the process of doing so but at considerable and unexpected expense.
