Customer Reviews:Sony delivers once again!
There are few deals as good as purchasing this TV from Amazon. The price was already a great deal and for under £10 it was also delivered guaranteed next day to my door. However, this is just another great benefit of buying from Amazon not of the TV.
The TV comes in this very large box, which is great because I was scared it would come broken, but it didn't. Set up was about 10 mins or less, but very simple and self explanatory.
For the first few tests I used DVDs and the quality of the picture was nice, but nothing to brag about. I then tested it with a Blu Ray player and there's a huge difference! The clarity of this TV is phenomenal. The sound coming from the internal speakers is not amazing, but is also not as bad as I thought it would be. I did attach some speakers after to improve the sound quality when watching movies. The picture is very clear and has plenty of options to quickly adjust depending on what you're watching, which I've found somewhat helpful so far.
The most useful feature I've found is the home network connection. I have a Sony VAIO and I'm able to quickly play movies, music, photos directly from the TV by using the wireless connection. This has been excellent! Also, if you have a Sony blu ray the remote controls will sync to eachother so you will only need one remote for basic functions, which is also nice.
Fantastic!
Works very well. Only slight issue was the Sony Bluray BDP-S360 player HDMI cable destroyed the TV signal but a heavily shielded HDMI cable sorted that out. This was probably nothing to do with the TV, but it might help someone else out there who gets the same problem.
The Guide Plus thing is a bit useless as you need to leave the TV on standby overnight (not great for saving energy) but you can easily switch it to the normal programme guide and turn it off as usual.
Picture quality is amazing. Only have freeview without HD, but the picture still looks really good. The settings are easy to figure out and play with to get the perfect picture for your lighting conditions.
Simply superb
No comments. Go for it. It's the best. To reaffirm your choice, just watch 'Life' on BBC1 HD on Monday nights.
Is it Sony good?
Loving it so far, for an LCD telly. It's my first non CRT TV. I have held off for ages as the image quality is just not as good as CRT and that is still the case. However excellent this is for an LCD just look at a male newsreader. Great you can see the five oclock shadow, but only until they move. Then like all other LCDs it smeers away until they are still again. This is caused by a mixture of response time and image processing. Once you have seen it you will start to see the same effect on many other scenes.
Aside from that the picture is as good as you seem to get with a very even dark level across the screen. I am put off by the very shiny frame which can catch every other light source in the room. However almost all TVs are like this for some odd reason of style over utility. At least it is a smooth glossy surface and not rippled like many others.
The audio is OK for the small speaker size. However I have added a Sony AV amp for better sound. I would have liked to use external speakers as my last two CRT TVs had sockets. Not possible now for some reason extra units, cables, and remotes seem to be required for better sound. The Bravia Synch does control the AV amp from the TV remote. I can even play and pause DVDs in a PS3 using the TV remote so long as it is hooked up by HDMI and you find the right menu setting to 'discover' it.
During the winter I may even get to grips with the 1000s of buttons and customised settings available or perhaps just sit back and enjoy. Lastly its inbuilt freeview tuner is insensitive to say the least. I normally use my external PVR so it does not bother me but it would if I had to rely on it.
Beautiful piece of kit
Spent plenty of time researching Plasmas, LCD, LED in the end opted for this Sony based on the review here on amazon - and no regretts wife loves it too and our little one.
